I really like the factory, 7 hole 15" x 5.5, wheels that came with my 02 MC. However, I would like to have the widest tires possible mounted on them. According to TireRack optional 15" tire for my factory wheels is 195/60-15, Yokohama's AVS ES100 would be my choice. I was just wondering if that is a safe fit, and if it will not stick out to much from the rims? Has anybody tried this combination by any chance?

I would use 205/55/15, its wider and equal to OE diameter.
ES100 is in stock currently as well.

Will they fit on my wheels without sticking out of the rim?

The section width (sidewall to sidewall)of the size 205/55 average is 8.8.5 inches, tread width tends to be about an inch less. This potentially would let the tire's sidewall extend past the rim, offering your wheels a slight degree of protection from passing abrasions.

I hasve been offered a new set of 205/55/15 winter tyres (blizzaks) and was hoping to fit these onto a set of the standard 15x5.5" steel wheels - from the post above, you seem to reckon that this would be OK, is that correct?

I know that they are a bit wider than i would have hoped, however they are free, so if they fit i can have them.

What are your thoughts

thanks in advance,

Gerry
