Stick-On vs. Clip-on Wheel Weights
Stick-On vs. Clip-on Wheel Weights
My new tires were installed today, and in addition to a new scratch on one of my wheels, the tech put clip-on weights on the backside of the wheels as opposed to stick-on weights. Is there any problem with this? Should I have them changed to stick-ons for any reason?
That's not quite right...

For stick ons, since you're relying on adhesive, I usually put some Al foil tape on top, just to make sure. But it's your choice, really. The shop I get my tire work done can even have the machine calculate how much wieght is needed if you want them placed behind spokes, for a wieghtless look. This involves installing two lighter weights where one would have worked before.
After all that, it's not that big a deal. Just make sure you're clear on what you want when you get them balanced next time.
