Tire Rotation Question
Tire Rotation Question
I realize that this may seem like a dumb question, but I was wondering if there is any need or benefit in having the tires balanced when rotating? I run directional tires and just switch front to back in my garage. Should the balance be checked at sometime or is there no real need?
Usually there is no need to re-balance tires when rotating them.
I have gone 24,000 miles on a set of Dunlop 5000 DSST tires without re-balancing and without vibration or un-even wear.
Try to rotate every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Monitor the air pressure and use a tread depth gauge to measure tread depth across the width of the tire on a regular basis. Adjust pressure to maintain even tread wear.

Like has been said no real need to rebalance when a rotation is done. If you need a rebalance you should be able to feel it in the steering wheel & the seat of your pants. Once you feel that don't delay getting a balance job or you'll ruin your tires.
