when I ordered a set of wheels and tires from them ... they shipped 2 of the tires mounted the worg way (they were unidirectional) and the centercaps on the wheels were missing. They did good on all this eventually ...

I am self employed. It gets frustrating sometimes when my clients think I should be available 24/7. Neither my cell or my home numbers are available to anyone other than family and my employees. Otherwise I guarantee it would be abused. So many times I get clients who leave messages for me Saturday night or Sunday morning and they are dismayed when I don't return their calls some time on Sunday. And so yes it is sometimes aggravating when my clients think that this one individual (me) should be available all the time.

However, when I go on vacation, my business remains open during normal business hours and my employees can always get a hold of me if necessary (which thankfully usually it is not).

Customer service just one element of competition. For example if my phone service provider's customer service is only available M-F, 9-5, and I have problems outside those hours, then I am upset and may well switch to a company with better or more available customer service. But if my phone company charges substantially less than the competition, I might stay with them and put up with the limited service.

As far as a place that sells wheels via mail order or internet, I would say I certainly would not expect them to be open on holidays and maybe not weekends but taking ten days off, that would bother me. They better have an excellent product or pricing to make up for it in my opinion.

But that's just me.

Krutluck! Sorry Buster WagnBat - I know how excited you are to get your car all customized. But look at it on the good side - less miles on your new tires! :-)

Very dissapointing.

Called Edge Racing today and was on hold for 20+ minutes. Bleh. Anyhow, after speaking with a CSR, they said it's a known issue that Bullets are going out instead of Bullet-C's, and that the C is actually discontinued because of clearcoat problems.

Wish they would have said 'discontinued' before I had ordered, instead of shipping the wrong wheels knowing there was potentially a problem. :impatient

They're going to send UPS to pick up the wheels, and once UPS has them, they will refund the full price & shipping.

The hunt for affordable/quality/unique wheels continues.

sorry to hear, after all that wait.

also check out www.importhookup.com they started their own store
last year (?) and they have some cool looking RAZE wheels by Ace.
those are pretty inexpensive... not sure of the quality, but Ace
manufactures for RacingHart too so probably pretty good for the
price.

Bleh. Looked and I don't like any of theirs. Alot of the same thing, imho. The Flik Bullet-C's were the first wheels I've seen in months that I've wanted.

Thanks for the linky Kenchan, will take a peek.

After a couple hours of being grumpy, I thought about how they're going to pay for shipping and take the wheels back and whatnot, and I think I may try giving them a call and make a deal to keep em. Meh. They're the same wheel, just without the uber-keen etching.

The main reason I ordered the Bullet-C's were for the etching in the polished lip. That's also the only difference between the bullet's and the bullet c's. If I had been going for the Bullet look, then indeed those importhookup wheels would be nice too.

Bad news from Edge racing.

Let me show the math first. $800 purchase, $60 shipping. I paid $860. They are going to ship the wheels back to themselves, and refund my money, including shipping. It's going to cost them $60 to send it back.

Since they are going to refund my shipping, and pay $60 to get their wheels back, they are going to be out $120 in shipping (refund + new shipping). I called and said if they would refund the shipping back to me, that would be enough to make me keep the wheels I didn't order.

Alex (the manager apparently), said he could only discount $10 per wheel, and that was as low as he was willing to go. I explained that I'd still be paying the full price for the wheels, only taking back the shipping costs in leiu of getting something I didn't order, and not being able to get what I did order.

He was very adamant about not giving me the shipping, as they wanted the wheels back to sell again at full price.

Is it just me, or does this not make sense. He loses $120 to ship these wheels, loses the sale of the wheels, has to dismount them from the tires and restock everything, and then go through the process when someone orders them again... Losing money in manpower as well.

Or he could bite the bullet for shipping me the wrong wheels, give me the $$$ he's going to lose anyway, and not have to restock this product.

All this, after getting the wrong wheels and having to wait 2 weeks for customer service has left a very sour taste in my mouth for Edge Racing. I highly discourage anyone from doing business with these guys. I'm happy I'm getting my money back, but not happy with their business ethics or customer service.

Wagnbat,

You have the right idea.. He makes the sale, giving up shipping ONE time, and it is a done deal.

He wants to give up shipping TWO times and not have a sale. As the owner of a company I would do what you want in a heartbeat.

I don't understand his thinking.

Earl

So they are willing to give $40 back and you want $60. Is that right. It does seem silly that two parties can be only $20 apart and not be able to close that very small gap.

i think they're handling this as two different categories.

product they can only discount down to a certain price.
but the freight (expense) they can write off.

the difference in $20 sounds like he should just write that off as
part of customer care (expense) but i don't think his computer
allows this and he's not smart enough to find out how to do it.

No, I want $120.

They are going to give me my $60 back for shipping.
They are going to pay another $60 to get the tires/wheels back.

Instead of taking them back, refund me my shipping, give me the $ they were going to spend on shipping, they and they still have sold tires at whatever markup they sell them at.

If they take the tires back, they'll be out the above $120, and will have additional warehouse costs for restocking.

Here's their options as I see it.
1) Refund customer $120. Still made $800+.

2) Take back wheels/tires, refund $860+. Pay another 60 to get wheels back. + restock tires, dismount, re-store... Only to have to pull them out again, and have to sell them for the same price at a later unknown date.

They take more losses with #2, which is why it doesn't make sense to me.

And of course you cannot re-sell tires that have been mounted (and un-mounted) as new, at least you can't around here (MI). Seems crazy that they guy wouldn't deal with you over $20...sheesh. Never mind the 'cost' of money (the % credit card charges that he pays to offer to take your credit card) that he might not get back?
Good luck Wagnbat!

You're actually willing to keep the wheels you didn't order... that would be enough for me to just refund you the 120. :/ weird.

Being in a service industry myself (IT Support and Maint. for Small Biz) the deal offered by WagnBat is more than fair. If I were a betting man - this company will be out of business in the next 5-12 months.

I believe that someone else in here had difficulties with Edge Racing - if you hear of 2 bad calls on a small forum such as this then it's obviously worse than what we're hearing.

Sorry you can't get the wheels you want - but Tirerack is looking better and better. :-)

If TireRack had black wheels, with a polished lip, and non-noob looking etching or something that made them stand out (and not company logos, I hate company logos), I'd be all over it.

And no-offense to TireRack, but thats about $100 more per wheel/tire, for something close. A bit more than I'd want to spend on tires that I'm not fond of. Kinda like my ER situation.

Who ever said they had to make sense?

Wash your hands of them - you wouldn't want to deal with them on a warranty issue would you? Take a different approach - find out who the manufacture is and persue finding another source.

Negative advertising - priceless

Bah. I started another thread asking if anyone has seen anything like the etched wheels I *wanted* for sale, and it's looking less and less likely.

EdgeRacing said UPS had been contacted, and that they will come and pick up the wheels. That was 3 days ago, and no word or sight of UPS yet. They said when UPS got the wheels on the truck, the refund would be issued.

Now enters minor dilemma. If I can't get the wheels I want anywhere, then why not keep these wheels which are a fair price (though not what I ordered), and they have the tires I do want, already mounted, and ready to go.

I'm not really concerned with getting any money from them at this point, even that piddly $40 they offered. I'm just curious if I should stick with these wheels since they're not really all that bad, and apparently the closest I'm going to get to what I want for under a grand.

first contact your credit card company and make sure you put a hold on the amount charged to you. then decide if you want to keep them.

One point about this $60 for shipping; just because that's what they charged you for shipping certainly does not mean that that is what they pay.

I would guess that's about right.

Each wheel counts as it's own package (labeled & tracked that way), and each wheel weighs about 35-40 lbs.

Alls well that ends well. The payment refund posted Jan 12th, for the full amount, so I got all my money back. Sucks it took a month to get the wheels back and get a refund, but oh well. Under the bridge and all.

I'd recommend working with Edge Racing if they have a wheel you're interested in. They never got hostile, and though they don't make sense sometimes, they have decent customer service, which I suppose it better than none.
