The main reason why I personally want to rotate the tires and replace all 4 at once is that I can go for a totally different brand/tread pattern/compound tire. Instead of being stuck with 2 half worn tires and 2 bald ones, and replacing the bald ones with the same type of tires just so they would match the 2 half worn tires.

Yes, if you have a directional tread pattern, rotate them every 5,000 miles, but don't swap sides. Just front to rear.

Rotated my 17 inch GoodYear RSA All seasons at 15K and got 33K out of them. Will be doing it every 5k now.

I don't get it -- don't your tires rotate every time you drive the car???
