help please I am tire ignorant

please help me and my mini
she's a 2002 mini cooper one of the first to drive in the usa
very proud

I choose the white holey rims
and she came with the standard contitouring contact 175/65r15 84H tires
and now at 50,198 miles are done

any mini owner who should see them will most definitely first shame me then take away my mini

I am reading as much info as i can about tires
and have decided I don't understand enough about tires

I need your help please

one tire shop I went to advised on the toyo proxes tpt
I have read nothing about this tire and instead of saying yes put them on decided to ask advice HELP

My conti tires were also called granny tires
I would like to upgrade just a little

so what is a
nice looking
good wearing
good handling tire
for central florida
where we never get snow
but tons of rain
also mini and I occasionally venture off to NY City the long way through north Georgia and Tennessee but i dont think I should base my tire purchase on this or should I
Please help me
thank you

I have the Falkin Z512s on my Cooper and I love the tread and grip. I have not slipped under stress cornering and it seems that Consumer Digest rates this tire as a good buy. Two other Mid-South MINIacs club members have them because of my purchase and they like them as well. I am sure they make them in your size for 15" rims. PM me if you want to know where I got mine.
Happy Motoring!

miniskirt,
You can keep your white Holey rims and add some good tires at a reasonable price.

Toyo Proxes tpt are High Performance All season tires
In 195/55-15 cost about $81 each over the internet.
400 tread rating A traction and about 18 pounds each.
A reasonable choice for replacement tires.

You do have plenty of other options.
Try emailing or talking to Alex@tirerack.com about
Ultra High Performance All season tires at tirerack which can be reasonably priced, available in various sizes to fit your holeys and still wear well, perform well, and handle well in dry or wet conditions.

From tirerack:
Kumho ecsta ASX (ultra high performance all season)
195/60-15 420 tread rating A traction 19 pounds $48 each
205/55-15 420 tread rating AA traction 20 pounds $68 each

Ecsta ASX tirerack test results

All season tires work well for dry or rainy weather and will last longer and tend to cost less than summer tires that are more performance oriented.

195/60-15 will be not only cheaper but be lighter, smoother riding and closer to the handling you had with your original tires (still a big improvement). These offer a little less rolling resistance than the 205/55-15 tires.

205/55-15 are about as wide as will fit your original rims. Wider tires and lower profile sidewalls help to improve handling and cornering. If you never drive fast in turns then the 195/60-15 tires will work good enough for you and you can save some money.

Always check air pressure and inflate to about 33 to 37 psi.

At tirerack, in High Performance All Season tires consider-
Bridgestone Potenza G009
195/60-15 460 treadwear A traction 22 pounds $62 each

Bridgestone Potenza RE 950
195/60-15 400 treadwear A traction 22 pounds $81 each
185/65-15 400 treadwear A traction 21 pounds $77 each
