The official window sticker, that came with the car, had this written as a standand Safety Feature:

4-Disk Anti-lock Brakes (Front vented, rear solid)

Does anyone have front vented brakes??? Was I short changed?:impatient :impatient Mine looks exactly like the rear ones, only bigger. I am thinking that vented ones would have furrows/indentations on the disks but my front ones don't. Can people check if their window stickers say the same? I have an Aug, 2005 build.

 

Answered my own question searching the Mini OL message boards. They are vented but not "drilled" (which would have shown the cannals I see in other cars). Ours have a sandwiched space of air on the front disk and this will be seen on the cross-section. Hope this info was helpful to others anyway...

 

Fronts are vented, rears are solid.
