Saw some threads on a SSR Competition knockoff called a Monza Superlight by NZO. The wheels are very light and will soon be available in 16" which will weigh only 13 lbs! Will these hold up for heavy street and autoX use? They seem inexpensive. Does that mean you get what you pay for? Any experience with this brand?

Your thoughts.

A guy I know just put a set on a EB/W "S" a couple weeks ago and spent $850.00 for rims and tires. They look good but don't know how they are going to hold up. Chance you take.

Check here. The owners of AK tires also have posted, so you may be able to contact them directly. SSR knock-offs thread

I ordered a set for autox and they arrrived yesterday. These wheels look really sharp and serve a specific purpose. If you are looking for a set of quality street wheels, you must be prepared to spend the extra money. These wheels are comparatively inexpensive and light weight coming in at 14.2lbs, in my opinion, if I was inclined to upgrade the OEM wheels for street/looks....I wouldn't consider a "knockoff" wheel. As for the longevity, that will remain to be seen and while I don't expect problems, even established names have problems with wheels sometimes. GRM did a series last year "zero to hero" about building an IT Golf and they had brand name wheels on that developed stress cracks so unless you are willing to spend a couple thousand dollars, you don't have many choices. Additionally, these wheels were built specific for SCCA stock class at the 16x6.5 inch OEM width. I think Mike at AKtires has done an exception job in putting together a special build/order for the MINI autox community and delivered a light weight, quality product at an affordable price. Well done AKTIRES ! Now all I need is my MCS !! It's just went status 150 (production started) and is expected in about 4-5 weeks.

I own a set of the white 16 x 6.5 wheels. I admit that I have not been autocrossing on them yet BUT I do live in south tampa where the cobble stone streets and pot holes give out plenty of abuse
Anyways hopefully this post will not get deleted. This is why i tend to hang out at mini2 instead of this board. Its a shame as well coz most people on here are in the USA and their issues & info relate to my car.
Here's the wheel page of AKTires
