Rota 16X6.5

I was one of those who ordered a set of Rota Slipstreams from 18Racing. As mentioned earlier in this thread, these are stock MINI size, and have the correct center bore for the MINI, so no rings required. I recieved the wheels yesterday. I weighed one of the wheels on my uncalibrated bathroom scale, and it came in at a slim 12.8 pounds. So these should be awesome for stock class auto-x.

If you want a lightweight (12.8 lbs), inexpensive (set of 4 for $490 shipped), stock sized (16X6.5) wheel for autocross, call 18Racing! The phone number was posted earlier in this thread.

Which finish did you get? I've wanted to see how it looks in Steel Grey with just the rims polished. I've only seen the photo in Rota's color selection chart. BTW, you might get a more accurate weight measurement if you put all 4 wheels on the scale and divide the result by 4.

I just went with the flat black. I would like to see some of the other colors in person though.

You are right on the weight. I just took one out of the box, for a quick look though.

My Rota's are IN !@!!!!!!

gun metal color with polished rims ... they look GREAT !!!! here's the spec's:
weight: approx 13.5 lbs
offset: 45 mm
size: 16"
width: 6.5"
hub center: 56.1mm ... NO RING NEEDED !!
bolt pattern: 4 by 100 ...

These are the exact stock size but much lighter ... and legal in GS or HS for SCCA autocrossing ...

Can't think of anything else .... they're as ordered .....and I've already placed order for second set.

I originally ordered gunmetal/polished but after alot of hassle with the shipping company, alot of days later they finally arrived, in the wrong color, what would you expect with my sh1tty luck. :(

But I got some off on the price so it was ok I guess.

Also, you guys in the US have great prices on them, I payed about 1300$ for my set, before the reduction because of the messup. (Polished/steel gray Subzero's in 18x7.5)

I just bought an Alpine CDA-9853 HU on eBay, 239$+69$ shipping = 308$ at my door. If I have bad luck the customs will strike me with their 25% sales tax that is on everything in Sweden, making the price 385$

The best price in Sweden is about 465$

I just put on my new 16x7 slipstreams (flat black). 56.1 hub, +40 offset.

Got them from SubyDude here in the Bay Area. They ship all over the country. A complete pleasure to deal with.

His shop is piled high with Rotas of every style and size imaginable. Check out his website or give them a call (Larry or Joe). They've fitted quite a few Minis.

I have 16" polished Slipstreams. I like them very well, especially after I changed to Greenstuff brade pads (which make a LOT less dust):

Coming from the Subaru world and owning a set of Rota Subzeros gunmetal with polished lip. I am so happy and i mean realy happy to see these wheels come to the market for the mini. I will be ordering my set in the near future. Not sure if i want to get royal black or gun metal with polished lip. Can you get these rims with the exact hub size? Is the 45 offset find for a stock MCS? Anything else that I will need to mount these suckers up to my 05 MCS?

Garrett

By the way Rota makes some really nice wheels and they are strong! I was sad when I had to sell my rotas since I sold my Subaru for the Mini.

garretwp,

The slip streams can be ordered with the mini hubsize of 56.1 mm. Weight is about 13.5 pounds per rim which is 4 pounds less than X-lytes in 16x6.5". Wheel offset is +45mm which is fine and legal for Stock classes for the MINI at autocross.

I recently heard from Jessica sales@18racing.com at 18racing.com that they have in stock in 16x6.5" size with MINI hub bore and +45mm offset the following finishes:
White
Flat Black

or with polished lip:
Royal Gun Metal
Royal steel grey
Royal Black

Roughly $500 per set of four new rims shipped. Each boxed separately.
A very good rim for an MC in H-stock or an MCS in G-stock. Your cost for shipping may vary with destinations outside the continental US.

Green looks great with bronze to my eye.

There is a guy with a BRG that posts here that has a set of 15x6.5 Rota Circut 8's on his MCS. I contacted him i had thought about using a set of those that i already have. He said that there were no fitment issues, everything worked well.

Of course, the 15" size on the MCS will bump you out of stock class.

16 x 7 wheels will too, but may be overlooked at local events, depending on how people are. If you are that concerned, check with the folks you run with first..
