Mini Brake decals
Mini Brake decals
I've finally decided to go with the Tire Rack kit and paint the calipers on my '05 Black MCSC.
I'm going with red, and I wondered if anyone knows of a supplier of small, heat resistant, either "MINI" or "S" decals in either Black, (preferably), white or silver that I could apply after the paint job is finished.
I know the "S" should be red, but not much good on red calipers!
I've trawled E Bay but to no avail. I see they are readily available for MB, AMG, BMW and a host of others, so surely someone has come up with a MINI range, either MINI script or the wings.
Can anyone help?

A couple of years ago, I had a Honda S2000 in silver with red interior.
I did the same to the calipers on that car, and a friend of mine who worked for a Honda dealership got me a set of supposed heat resistant "S2000" brake decals.
I don't know where he got them from, and he has moved on, so I have lost contact with him.
I know they were aftermarket, and not OEM.
They withstood 2-1/2 years of fairly hard motoring, (as did the calipers, with no fading or discoloring).
I have seen such decals for AMG and I seem to recall they withstood some fairly elevated temperatures. I have an '04 E55AMG and the OEM "AMG" insignia on the calipers appears to be no more than a heavy decal. They are coming up for a year with no signs of deterioration. In that case you are really talking some high temperatures, with around 4000Lb being pulled down from some significant speeds very quickly.
I just thought if they were available it would be worth a try, but I don't think I want to spend a fortune on such an item.

You are right, RallyMINI, but I think that today, anyone who tracks a Porsche tends to go with the ceramic option on the modern versions.
These, I think, operate at significantly higher temperatures than the regular CI discs and normal compound pads. I recall reading somewhere that they look for temperatures in excess of 600C for optimum efficiency. In that case, any decal will be a smouldering mess.
My MINI is a daily driver, mainly used by my wife, who does know how to drive!
She used to race, with me, a 1989 930 Porsche with G30 gearbox and lightweight body. We had a K27 Turbo on that beast that kicked in at 1500 rpm, and dyno'ed at 357 shaft HP. Unfortunately no ceramic brakes, so it had a habit of going faster than it would stop!
She did better in the PCNA Ladies Class than I did in the regular handicapped class!
But, no, when the MINI goes, we will be able to truthfully say "Never raced or rallied"!

indeed....it sounds like it will look cool
might have a hard time finding a flat space on the rears though...if i recall.
I am sure that any company making BMW ones will easily make you custom ones for your application. Most likely they just have a machine to cut the material and only make the BMW and AMG ones due to demand. If you ask, they may be able to custom cut you some cooper ones
