Lug bolts...Yellow vs Black?

Anybody know if there is any difference between the yellow lug bolts and the black ones? Are they interchangeable in all instances? Or is it just cosmetic? Comparing them side by side, I can't determine a functional difference by eye.

MINI shows some rims equipped with black ones (17" S-Lites, for example) and some rims with the yellow ones (18" R95 JCW rims).

If I install 3 yellow bolts on each rim, can I still use a black locking bolt as the fourth?

Part number for black: 36-13-0-141-574
Part number for yellow: 36-13-0-141-576

The lugs are the same. MINI uses black coated ones when they show, & saves 1/4 cent by using the non-coated ones when they are covered by a center cap. Mix & match with the locks to your heart's content.

i think he means the cadium plated lugs. i'm not sue if its cad, but the yellow-gold lugs on cars that dont have center covers.

i believe they are all the same, just the black ones are for cars without center cover (ie- s lites)

while the yellow gold ones go on cars with center covers (ie- R83)
