Need to know for sure. Does Civic spare fit?

Hi. I am leaving my runflats for regular tires and will keep a doughnut spare in the boot. Does anyone know for sure if the Honda civic spare fits the lug hole pattern exactly or not?

Yes. It fits perfectly. My husband has a 99 civic and in the winter, he used to drive on snow tires mounted to steel wheels. Last winter, we used those same wheels on the mini. It was fine.

I see two possible minor issues:

A) Every Honda I've ever had (6 or 7 of them), has used the "acorn" style lug nut, while the mini has the conical style. I don't think this is a big deal for a spare ... unless you're one of those people that puts a spare on and drives it for a couple weeks

B) The rolling diameter of the spare is likely less than the other wheels on your mini. Don't put it on the front, and you'd probably be okay. So, if you get a flat in the front and have to drive more than a couple blocks on the spare, take a wheel off of the back end, put it on the front, and put the spare in the back.

Anyhow, enough nit picking. I think a civic spare would be fine.

Edit - oh, if it will fit! I tried to put a wheel from out Civic on the Mini, and it would not clear the brake calipers.

Unless you have a civic spare wheel/tire laying around you could search the wrecking yards for a cooper spare. I did that. I recently purchased a portable air compressor and plug kit to free up space in the boot. I will carry the spare on out of town trips.

From what I have seen looking at both Miata and Civic wheels and fitment on a MINI-
Try a 15" wheel from either car as that will most likely do the best on caliper clearance. 14" wheels from either will hit the MINI caliper. Is there a smaller caliper a MINI could use? Nah, the MINI brakes are pretty good as is.

Also make sure your brake lines in front clear the small wheels. It is possible for the lines to rub against the inner rims.

Watch upper rear controll arms from Honda wheels. Our steels had some "issues" a few years ago. All of wich were resolved.
