I am looking for best price on TD Pro 2 blacks since I missed out on the above. Discount Tire wants $178, plus tax.

 

I believe 215/45-17 would give you less speedometer error. See below:

Comparing Stock 205/45-17@60 mph: 215/45-17=59.1 mph, 215/40-17=61.2 mph
Comparing Stock 195/55-16@60 mph: 215/45-17=59.5 mph, 215/40-17=61.6 mph

I guess if I couldn't match the speedometer calibration exactly, I'd prefer to go on the "slow" side (less than 60 mph calibration) since BMW have built-in a 2 - 3 mph cushion (speedometer reads 2 - 3 mph too fast; legal issues don't cha know).

Another consideration is the condition of the roads in your area. I live in a region where the roads are pretty rough year round so going with a shorter sidewall invites bent rims. If your roads are smooth and well-maintained, this will not be much of a problem.
