Opinion on "phone dial" wheels

I'm not sure if Mini people call them that, but VW people do...

I've got the standard 15" phone dial wheels on my '12 base R56, and honestly they're in surprisingly great shape. But, I was thinking they're kind of just the basic wheels, so I was going to use them to house my winter tires, and I was going to get a second set of 17" wheels for the summer.

I'm wondering if anyone has a strong opinion against me doing that for any reason - like, are these wheels somehow rare and sought-after? Should I sell them and get something even more basic, like steel wheels for winter or something instead?

Any thoughts are helpful. Thanks!

The R81 holies aren’t particularly rare AFAIK, but I’m pretty sure they’re the lightest wheel Mini ever offered. Actually, the last time I checked you could still buy new ones.

I optioned my car with a set of white ones when I ordered it. Incidentally, I have a set of winters on mine as well.

Cool, thanks very much! The deed shall be done, then. I think I'll appreciate having nicer looking wheels for winter than steelies.

They came in silver and white. Good wheel for autocross.
