Wheel size question..

Hey there,

just picked up a 2012 S and wanted to swap the wheels. I found a black set I like (JCW style). But the offset is slightly different.

my current oem wheels are 7x17 and 48mm offset.

the new wheels are same size, but 42mm offset..so they will stick out wider right?

is this a same safe or will I run into issues?

suspension is stock.

Attached is a picture of my current stock wheels

the ones I was thinking of getting are here:

thanks!!

Hi, did you check the weight? For that price you can get wheels less than 20lbs.

Those would stick out 6mm further yes. No issues in doing that.

SunBird has a good point, decreasing weight can really help the feel and acceleration of a car (same goes with tires).

Wheels

Hey guys. I have a question. I’m looking at a used set of konig 15x9 with either a +25 or 35 offset. Just wanted to make sure they won’t hit anything before I get them. I went in the Konig website and looked up the wheels for both mine and the car they come off of and the part number is the same. I’m just not sure what offset he has, it’s one or the other. If I know both will work then it won’t matter. I understand they may stick out some but that’s ok, I’m more concerned with the rubbing. My car is a stick, for now, 2006 Cooper S non JCW. No other mods yet. Let me know what you all think. Thank you for your help.
