Simple offset question

I have a '15 Mini Roadster S and looking to get some summer rims. Nothing special, just something stock sized, 17x7. Which is the best for appearance - 35mm, 40mm, or 43mm?

Thanks.

I have 8mm spacers with my factory 17x7 +48 wheels, which makes them effectively 17x7 +40. Paired with some 215/45-17 tires, looks pretty good to me. If you stick with the stock size of 205/45-17, you could go down to a 17x7 +35 without issue and be flush with the fenders.

If you consider 8mm poke for OEM wheels as being close to flush then-

+35mm offset will poke out 13mm more
+40mm offset will poke 8mm more
+43mm offset will poke 5mm more

You don't always have the option to choose offsets but it's nice not to run spacers if you can find the correct offset on your wheel of choice.

Tires can be either 205/45-17 or 215/45-17 with OEM suspension.
