I've searched without success for details on the new optional Mini 2RE Web Spoke 17" wheel. Can anyone provide info or a link that provides the weight of this wheel (minus tire)?

The press release makes a point of saying the wheel is made of "light alloy", which seems a bit redundant since I have never seen a company announce heavy alloy wheels . So, do they weigh enough less than the S-lites to justify purchase? Something mid-way between a 16# race wheel and the standard 25+ pound bricks would be nice.

Thanks!

This is a new wheel option that is not yet listed on the Ross-Tech page. It was announced Nov. 1. It is similar in appearance to the R90, and can be seen at http://www.motoringfile.com/2004/11/...ke_alloy_wheel.
If ordering the Sport Pkg, the wheel upgrade price is $500USD. Does anyone have any info on the weight?
..
Thanks!

they are claimed to be 2 piece, although someone said 1 piece.. they look 2 piece to me

my guess? in the neighbourhood of 20 lbs... they wouldn't be light weight cuze as with most oem wheels, they are designed to handle daily stress... now unless they are forged, which i HIGHLY doubt, they would be in that area... all mini's 17s seems to be in that area

andy@ross-tech posted a link to mini2

It looks that the 2RE is also the R98 @ 22.3lbs. Both are labelled as "Web Spoke"
