old winter tires on new Mini

So I know this is talked about all the time but there doesn't seem to be a definite answer I have seen about rubbing. I have a set of winter tires on a set of Steel rims I was running on my 2006 VW GTI, 205/55/R 16 on a 5X112. I believe this is the bolt pattern for the F57 as well but I am concerned that the tire will rub on my new Mini as Tire Rack recommends a 205/50/R16 instead. Anyone have any experience running this size of tire?

I have 205/55-16s for winter duty on my R55 without rubbing. I understand the F55/56 cars have more room under the fenders, so should be fine.
