Painting the brake calipers

Who has painted calipers and what brand of paint did you use? I would like to paint mine red, on a PS/B MCS. One of our local club members used the kit from the Tire Rack and it looked like it worked well for him.

I bought the kit from Moss and it worked out really well. I think we needed an additional can of brake cleaner (the kit comes with one) to get everything really clean but apart from that everything was great.

We opted to remove everything from the car to make painting a bit easier, then we set up a little makeshift rack to hang everything on while it dried.

There's a couple that you can get. Either a full kit including caliper cleaner, a brush, and the paint. Or you can buy them separatly. You can also find spray-on paint or brush-on. Then there's the choice of either taking the calipers off, or leaving them on to apply it. If you leave them on the car, you'll have to of course use the brush to apply it. But, I'd suggest doing it right, and remove them. Way easier to clean the calipers, and get a better look using the spray-on application of the paint, and less stress painting through and around the wheels to get the paint on the calipers. You can find kits for this at just about any auto parts stores. Make sure you buy high-heat paint though.
Cheers,

I got mine from Ebay, it is a G2. It worked well. I did not remove the caliper to paint. I did it one side at a time. Jacked up one side, paint the front, then the rear, back to the front, then rear again. Total about 3 layers on each. Since the instruction told to let it sit for 15 min. before the next layer, so the above method I used worked quite well, since each layer put on takes about 15-20 min. I only mixed half can of paint and the activator to paint one side, leave the rest for the other side. So the paint won't be activated too early and become solid before you apply.

Hope this help.

I used the kit from Moss, same as Jerseygirl. It worked great. I did mine with the calipers on the car...just set it up on 4 jack stands overnight to paint and dry, so I could do all four corners at once. Using this method, it's hard if not impossible to get all of the surfaces of the caliper that face the inside of the car, but you don't see those anyway, so I just did the visible parts.

The hardest part of the job for me was putting the wire clip things back on the calipers after the paint was dry without scratching the paint. It was very hard and I did scratch the paint in a couple spots with the ends of the wire clips while I wrestled them back on.
