New wheels but no tpms light??

So I have a 2006 Cooper S and I believe it has tpms sensors because i have a tire light that comes on and goes off when i start the car. My question is I changed the wheels on it but didn't think about the sensors. I've had the wheels on for a few months now but I have never gotten a tpms light untill this morning, but I cut the car off and back on and it went away and stayed off? Has anyone else had this happen or know if I have a faulty tpms module or any clue of whats going on lol. This is my first car with tpms so im pretty dumb when it comes to this?

the system that uses 'sensors' came to MINI in the middle of the 07 production year ....

my 07-S still had the 'no sensor' system. Other cars on the same truck HAD the sensor system ......

you should 'train' the system as described in the owner's manual

and if the light does not behave after this

you possibly have a bad or failing ABS wheel speed sensor ...... the "non" system for TPMS uses ABS wheel speed to determine lost air in a tire (lost radius due to lost air equals change in rotation speed)

As Capt stated, you don't have a TPMS sensor in the wheel as traditional systems have. The speed sensor determines if the tire has lower tire pressure based on the RPM's in the wheel. You can reset it by the button in the middle of the console, just right of the e-brake.

see the owner's manual for the 'reset procedure'

with the ignition on press and HOLD the button until the dash indicator light flashes ....

now the system will 'retrain' it self with a few miles of driving ....

"1. Before a journey, start the engine, but do
not start driving.
2. Press the button until the indicator lamp
in the display elements lights up in yellow
for several seconds.
3. Drive off.
Initialization is completed during the
drive, without any feedback issued."
