how light is too light?

i'm ready to order my wheels and just getting together prices and packages and what not. i like the Koseis, K1 and the TS. K1 is light @ 16 lbs., the TS even lighter @ 14 lbs. on a daily driven car with 17" TSs would a 14 lb. rim be TOO light to take the abuse or should i go with something a bit heavier?

Discodan,

I'm not sure if I want to know how you chose your user name.

The weight is not as much of an issue as the construction. Cast wheels are, in general, heavier and weaker than forged wheels. Most race wheels are forged, light and strong, and very expensive.

Best to talk to a wheel expert on the particulars of the wheels you are looking at to decide.

I have two sets of the Kosei K1's and realy like them a lot. I have a set of 16"s for snows and a set of 17"s for summer. The weight is not a problem. You actually want light wheels as this is unsprung weight that you carry. The K1's are GREAT wheels for the money!!
