Had my first oppty to really put the Stoptech ST 40's to work on the track this weekend at a RMCBMWCCA driver's school that I was instructing at. I have the Stoptech's fitted with Hawk Blue pads in the front and I have Ferodo 2500's on stock rotors on the rear; Motul fluid.

The brakes held up great all weekend. Amazing stopping power (outbraking E-46 M3's), absolutely no fade even at the end of 20-30 minute lapping sessions. I inspected the pads at the end of the weekend and they showed very little wear; the rotors are looking good as well.

I'm a happy camper! BTW, the MINI held its own among the instructor run groups and some pretty high HP cars. As expected some of them could outpull me in the straights but I seemed to always be as fast or faster in the twisties.

Glad to hear you'r happy with them and that they worked good.

Let us know after a month or so how they feel on the street.

Mark, thank you for sharing your experience!

Did you switch out the brake pads for the big brake kit or did they come with the kit?

The Axxis Ultimates that came with the kit were not suitable for the track - I changed them to the Hawk Blues. Pretty easy switch; you unscrew the two guide pins take off the caliper strengthening bridge then the pads pull out like a couple of pieces of toast.

FYI I sell hawk blue for your future needs. I just need your Hawk part number!

Thanks Alex!

I was thinking that the combination of the Ferodo 2500's on the back and the Hawk Blues on the front might be working pretty well on the street (better than expected) becasue the Ferodo's work cold before the Blue's get up to temperature.

So far I'm not seeing much rotor wear, that will be my longer term concern about running this setup full time.

Do you use the Axxis Ultimate for the street or the Hawk pads? How do you like the Stoptech today? Thanks:smile:
