Uneven wear on new rotors
Uneven wear on new rotors
Hi All
I just got new Front rotors and pads at the local mechanic.
After about 200 (mostly highway) miles, one rotor still had the outer area dull, while the inner area is shinny, as if the brake pad is not making full contact on the rotor.
Other wheel looks shinny all over.
There is no vibration or pulsing while braking, and ocasionally a very low squeal while braking around 10mph, which seems to have gone away.
Is something wrong, or do I need more miles to seat the pad?

a case where an aggressive bedding session might help . . . you may just need to get those new pads moving!
find a back road or BIG empty parking lot and do 5 or 6 50 mph to near stop stops then drive around for 20 minutes or so and do it again
