Pirelli P Zero Nero
I just ordered a set of Motegei Racing 17x7 wheels (16.5#) along with a set of the Pirelli P Zero Nero in the OEM 205-45-17 size from TireRack.
the wheels are special order, so I have some time to switch the tires if needed - so does anybody have any feedback on these?
Seemed like a pretty good tire for the money - $109 and a $80 rebate makes them $356 right now. the 215-45-17 was $10 cheaper, but I would rather have the OEM size instead of a taller tire that was a bit wider.
Michelin super sports are no doubt better, but would be $600 with their rebate right now, and not sure they are worth that much more.
Another budget tire I was really considering was the Sumitomo HTRZ-IIIs but those only come in a 215-45-17, although specs list them at 24.7", so they seem to be about 1/4" shorter than most brands in that size. The downside is these are 23#, where the Pirelli is only 20#.
Also the Conti DW and BFG Comp Sport 2 were on my short list, but would run about $150 more than the Pirelli's so I wasn't so sold on them to pay that difference.
And the Bridgestone Pole Position S-04 are now $530 with rebate which isn't bad for that tire which I know is a good one. Still 50% more than the Pirelli and probably wouldn't see 50% better tread life.
Performance is probably fairly similar I'm thinking.
Any thoughts or experience with any of those tires?

Had them on a set of GP wheels in size 215/40/18 and absolutely loved'em. Nice turn in and predictable cornering. Ecellent in rain and some light snow I had them on until I put the Blizzaks on.
Currently running a set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS on 18" JCW Wheels. The Conti's are not as sticky, harsher on bumps/holes.
If your looking for nice sticky tire, check out discounttiredirect.com and get a set of Nitto Neo-gen in the 215/40/17 for those wheels. I prefer the 40 series side wall over the 45's your looking at for a couple of reasons, but these NITTO's are an awesome tire ! Excellent in rain/dry pavement, predictable cornering, and super nice in the twisties.

But thanks for the input on the P Zero Nero's. Sounds like my kinda street tire. I think I will happy with them. And if they go 20K miles I will be happy with that.
