Who has 17's(non run flats) and whats your best..
Greetings! I don't have an answer for you as I'm still on my oem runflats, but there is a tire & wheel sub-forum here that may give you some better information. Cheers!

I had 17" Yokohama S-Drives on my 2010 Justa, and then, after I wore those out, I bought a set of Continental - ExtremeContact DW. I think the Contenentals are not quite as soft as the Yoko's. I tracked the Yokos twice and they stuck well. I haven't pushed the Continentals that hard yet, other than the tail of the dragon, but they seem very good in the wet and dry. I think I will get more life from the Continentals. I can't compare how either of these tires compare to run flats because I never had run flats. When I traded my 2010 for a 2011 MCS, I had them switch out my white wheels and the Continentals to the 2011 MCS and put the run flats on my trade. I talked to a friend of mine who manages a tire store, and he is the one who recomended the Continental - ExtremeContact DW tires. He says he sells lots on them to BMW, Porsche and Audi owners, and gets very good feedback.

Another option: Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's. A reasonably priced tire (got mine from Tire Rack) that rides well, is quiet, and handles dry & wet roads adroitly.
That said, another NAM member made a good point that one should not skimp on one of the most important parts of any car: what sits between the car itself and the road - your rubber. When I ditched my RFTs for the Hankooks I was definitely budget-conscious. But, once my Hankooks wear I'm going Conti Extreme Contact or Michelin Pilot Sports or Super Sports as they get some of the best reviews out there.

Great feedback from all! Now i'm wondering who has gone from run flats to non flats. The noise from the run flats i have make me cringe! I have Contisport SSR's. I don't want to find out after changing them that the noise is not much different (as the ones i have are fairly new).
Installed Michelin Pilot Supersports on my 2011 JCW and have about 1,000 miles on them. Holy Guacamole are they good! Road noise dramatically diminished and the car feels like it's on rails. Reduces bump steer too. The 215/45/17 are about $50 a tire less than 205/45/17, so I went with the 215s. No issues, but have not lowered the car. Handle the wet superbly also. One word of caution.....they are a summer performance tire so if you have freezing weather (not such a problem in Houston) they may not be the best year-round choice.

I have the same tires on my 2011 MCS convertible and all I can say is that they were a HUGE improvement over the stock run flats in overall driveability, noise, handling, etc. It is like a totally different car now.
What's your best (tire)? For what?
Street driving.
Track
Autocross
High perf driving event
Three season driving- (dry, wet and some snow)
Longer treadwear
Comfort for long trips
Tire on a budget
The answer can be different for each purpose.
Best all around summer tire without respect to cost?
Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Best all season tire?
Continental ExtremeContact DWS, Kumho Ecsta 4X (for a budget)
Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS
And there are some tires what won't come in sizes to fit 15" and 16" rims but do come in 17" or larger.

I had had enough of the hard ride of the Continental Run Flats on my 05 R53. I got conventional Eagle GTs 205/45-17. Not expensive and run fine for my useage. I also have a plug kit, a can of slime, a small compressor and AAA. I figure I have it covered.
When I bought my MCS it was equipped with fairly new 205/45R17 Continental Extreme Contact DWS on it clearly from the previous owner. I have no complaints with these tires for my purposes. I don't do any track driving, however.
I had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my old Civic Si hatch. They performed amazingly and the aggressive tread made worries of driving in the snow a thing of the past..
Just swapped the horrible factory 17" run-flats for a set of BFGoodrich Comp-2s. I can already tell the grip levels and ride comfort are leagues better than the stock RFs. We'll see how they hold up to everyday driving over time..
Re: Michelin pilot sport AS plus
Dang...That's a great price for this tire, where did you get them?
I'm thinking of switching to these myself they are $648 plus shipping and install on tire rack. If I could get them for $500 I'd jump on them for that price immediately!
