While I love the fact that my SE came with high performance summer tires, the seasons are changing here and I need something a little more appropriate for the weather. Today I installed Neuspeed RSe05 wheels (17"x7.5" ET40) with 225/45ZR17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 tires.

These are Speed Star Co LTD original forged wheels from Japan. These are SSR Comp Type C 16x7.5, +42 offset, 4x100 bolt pattern. The rims will accept 12mm or 14mm bolts. This is a set of four rims with Continental Extreme Contact DW tires mounted and Road Force balanced. The tire size is 205-50 ZR16.
These rims weigh 11lbs each and the tires weigh 19 lbs each for a total of thirty lbs per corner. This was by far the best performance upgrade made to my car. I lost over fifty lbs of unstrung weight which affected acceleration, deceleration, braking, and suspension.
The tires have approximately 6000 miles of highway driving. The rims have a hand polished lip, to a mirror shine, and shows no signs of common clear coating degrading. The rims also come with center caps. The center caps currently have a stick-on Mini Logo over the SSR which can be removed if desired. All rims run true without any bends. Sixteen 14 mm lug bolts will be included with sale.
I have listed this as local pickup only and would prefer that. However if necessary I would help to ship at Buyers expense.
I have to admit, I kind of LOVE this look, as it takes the R56 back to more of a classic Mini look with the smaller wheels. What specific wheels are they, and what offset? Any spacers or such?
May I ask what suspension you are running? Is this too low, in your opinion, to drive routinely on the street? (I hesitate to say "daily drive, as I only put 5-6000 miles a year on a car, mostly just around town, and then "fun drives" on the weekends.

Just got my new wheels sorted, they needed a bit more work to get the fitment right then I expected but I think the end result was worth it.

225/40r18 Continental DWS 06 Plus tires front and rear

No rubbing on this set up and it clears the front caliper by about 2.5mm.
The whole car's been a project, but these wheels were a project unto themselves, too.
I scored a set of period-correct SSR Type-C RS wheels on eBay that needed some work - 12mm lug holes and all. The wheels were in good shape, but the finish had some chips and light scratches (thankfully no curb scrapes), and two had very slight bends. And they were the wrong color; I just don't like black wheels.
So, I got them over to Vibrant Finish in Penndel, PA for a refinish and straightening - and they knocked them out of the park. Plus, they mounted and balanced a new set of tires for me, too - nothing better than a full-service wheel shop.
