How do you like the Drag wheels? Do they appear to be of good quality? I have always wondered. Thank you.
They feel solid on and off the car. I looked them over good and found nothing to believe they are shoddy. I've had lots of compliments on the looks. Plus they're easy to clean!
I like those wheels. Are you gonna lower your car at all?
My R55 is the same color.
I'm hoping to. right now we're trying to get a house, so everything will be sidelined for a while! i was thinking to go all out in spring, but it may have to wait.
sabjcw - Nice to see you were part of the 1552 crew. Small world.
That it is! It's good to see you guys are still a big presence in the tuning world! I remember talking to you guys early on in the 90's and early 00's.
It's also nice to see Brad making a name for himself with the wheel line. They appear to have a great following as well!
XXR 530s? Nice looking wheels on Minis! Are they 17 inch? Did you get black or chromium black? Hard to tell from the picture. Your son's look like the gold XXRs. Great choice for the Pepper White Coupe.

Both sets are 17 inch wheels. The JCW's are factory gloss black with center caps. The XXR's are gold and truly gives a great contrast and different look. Pretty aggressive stance too as the offset is around et33. When we ride together people actually pull up next to the coupe, standing still or moving, and give thumbs up. When parked there are always people walking around it or looking inside. What an attention getter. I've never has that happen before. It's like driving an exotic car! Here's a close up of the JCW.
These might be simple but they're mine and I love them.
16" MSW Type 25. Stock tire size. No spacers, no lowering...
Couldn't be happier.
Very nice, glad to see not everyone ditches the 16", I too was considering 16" aftermarket to replace my stock 16" Victories and could find no one until I saw your car who had.

Both cars look great. Missed the fact that the black wheels were JCWs for some reason... maybe just too late at night for me? But what do you mean... "like driving an exotic"? Minis are all exotic cars!
Gotta admit that those gold XXRs do up the exotic quotient on your son's Coupe.
With an et33 wheel, the tires don't stick out too much? Any tire/fender contact? Factory et seems to be 45mm. That's quite a difference, but looks excellent from the side.
Wheels and tires are near flush with the arches. No scrubbing at all as the car rides at factory height. The car has sport suspension as well. There is not much "play" over bumps. The ride is all good with no issues.
It is a great look. That's a little bit of the problem with the JCW wheels. At a 48et they are too far inside the wheel arches. They could use a 10-12-15mm spacer otherwise the wheel/tire combination looks too tall and narrow.
Yea, it was definitely a tough decision at that time, but there were a number of factors that went into it.
Lt Dan.....why does that sound familiar?? What car did you own back then? I had the white 95 Jetta GLX with the Abt kit. It's on the ft cover of the VW Performance Handbook-still!, was in PVW a number of times, European Car, etc. I then had the silver 99.5 Golf IV GLX with the Konigseder wide body kit, Porsche wheels.
I remember your car!
At the time, I had a '91 GTI, red on some Borbets with LOUD exhaust, then I got a first gen CRX that had a bunch of work on it
So, fitment kings of nam, I need some help picking out some good wheels and tires for buttons, my r56.
As for current specs, right now I'm working with the stock wheels (17x7) and suspension with modded camber plates and struts, but want to go lower wider wheel wise. The build I want currently is 17x8 in the fronts with 8.5s in the rear, or 9 (if you, by some stretch of the imagination, find a way that could work without rubbing the hell off my trim or strut)
But here's the catch.
I really don't like the look of stretched tires, and want my tires to be almost flush to the wheel, something like the 205x45 on my 7s (would've went with 225x45s but I was a tad dumbo the day I ordered). Offsets have me a bit worried too, since I never had to worry about them previously, so even a somewhat knowledgeable recommendation will go ways. My current build idea might be the 8s on 235s with a 38mm offset.
I also am looking in to getting lowering springs later on, but nothing too insane, maybe just an inch or so lower.
Any ideas? Think it'd be possible to fit 8s and 8.5 rear without stretching on 235x45s?
