The reason I ask is: I just had three new rims and tires installed. The forth was the wrong size, so another has been ordered. They swapped over my TPMS from my old rims. They only noticed that the forth rim was wrong after they had removed the TPMS from my old rim and remounted an old tire to it (for a spare). So, now I have three new rims and tires with the TPMS installed. One old tire and rim with no TPMS at all. After I got home and started it this morning it had gone into limp mode. Is it possible that having only three TPMS installed could have triggered this? Aside from being down on power it runs fine.

Any help would be greatly appriciated!
Limp mode would not be caused by not having a TPMS installed. You should have a tire symbol showing however.

I was told by a person who put non mini wheels on his 2011 mini without TPMS and he said that after a while the cars computer will quit searching for the TPMS signal and then the TPMS warning light will not come on. Can anyone confirm this.

thks

Well then, my Cooper is showing the half full engine light (and running smoothly). Any advice beyond driving from Louisiana to Dallas (my closest dealer) to have it looked at? Easy Fix?

Do you have an AutoZone close by? If so, they can run a code scanner on it and give you the code then post it and we might be able to help you out.
AutoZone should do this for free.
It's probably nothing big.
By the way, do you have a straight Cooper or S? What year and how many miles are on it?
Are there any mods done to it?

If you post this info in your signature it helps to identify specific issues to certain models and years.

^^^I had 1/2 yellow engine come on 2 weeks after I installed a Forge BOV. At the time I didn't know what the CEL was for but my mechanic said, the BOV was working ok but the car just didn't like it and shot out the code and light. It was an emissions thing.
Most likely yours is an emission thing also. That light will also come on if the gas cap isn't on tight as well as the dip stick not in all the way or the oil filler cap isn't tight. Just a few stupid things that can cause the issue.
It may even clear itself after a few starts and stops.
Let us know.
Oh forgot, air filter may be dirty unless it's new. If it's the add the oil type like mine be sure not to over oil and to make sure it's dry before reinstalling. Excess oil on the filter can dirty the MAF which is on the air inlet tube just before going into the air cleaner.

I drove my car for three days and the TPMS light stayed on because it did not recognize the TPMS. I tried to reset it many times without success - will report back after I pick up the car from the dealer.

So, I had the 4th rim and tpms reinstalled today. They said that it showed no code in conjunction with the 1/2 engine light. However, it went off moments after I left! I know that everyone says that the two are not related but...I'm not one to believe in coincidence.

When I picked up my car and asked SA about the low tire pressure warning light - SA told me that it has a newer version of TPMS 2011 wheels (newer than Sep. 2009) and it is not compatible with my 2009 module. It would cost about $140 each to replace.

I was told that it is acceptable to drive as is if I don't want to change it. After much research and read several post in NAM I was able to confirm that after production date Sep. 2009 Mini changed the part number although it is 433Mhz.

I'm going to order a set from TPMSdirect.com and replace with the correct one.
