Which nuts for Kosei K1-TS Wheels and TSW M14 to M12 Stud Conversion?

Hey guys. I'm planning out my stud conversion process for my 2011 R56 but i'm not sure what lug nut style to purchase in terms of the type of seating (acorn, tapered, ball). I'll be switching between Kosei K1-TS wheels and my OEM 16" wheels between track and daily driving so I need to make sure to purchase the right type of nuts. So do I need to purchase ball seat, acorn, or tapered lug nuts? Will I need to purchase 2 sets of nuts for each set of wheels because of different seating etc? Thanks!

edit: here's a link to tirerack showing what wheels i'm talking about

I asked Alex@tirerack and he responded back that they were conical. Are tapered and conical the same thing or totally different? I'm pretty confused right now.

3 basic types. Tapered = conical = acorn. Ball end = spherical. Shank = mag type.

Thanks for clarifying! Does anyone know the type of bolts for the OEM M14 bolts from the R56 just for additional information?

I'm doing the same thing NintenTom. I just got a set of Enkei RPF1's for autox use this season.

I plan to do the m14x1.25 to m12x1.5 conversion lug/stud kit from Way Motor Works.
A fellow autox'er recommended these lugs to me: http://949racing.com/forged-alloy-lugs-black-12x15.aspx
They have a 60degree conical seat, so they should work fine with the wheels and studs.

I also emailed Way asking if he sold any lugs that work with the conversion kit (12x1.5). Still waiting to hear back on that.

Please keep me updated on Way's response (when he does that is). In the meantime, i'll bookmark that 949 racing link for the lug nuts.

Way got back to me:
He has 12x1.5 muteki's black open ended nuts and use a spline socket to tighten and loosen that comes with them for $30.
I may still go with the 949 racing since I don't think you are suppose to use an impact wrench with spline drive lugs.

I'm not seeing those muteki's on the website. I'm assuming one needs to call in to place a custom order for these.

So i'm wondering (since this is my first stud conversion) will I have to buy a second set of lug nuts for my OEM wheels since those are M14 size? If I do need a second set, what size am i looking at?

Not sure what OEM wheels you have but remember the conversion kit brings the lug size to M12 so whatever lugs you get need to fit M12x1.5 and should work with the OEM wheels too.
If you look at the OEM lug/studs they have a conical seat too.

I'm wondering why my OEM bolts (which are supposed to be conical right?) are scraping the inside of the holes on the wheels when I tighten/torque the bolts AND the Kosei K1-T1's are also supposed to be conical seating.

the bolts are scratching your wheels??? if you mean where the lug seat meets the wheel that is normal. if you mean the sides of the lug holes then your socket might be scraping the sides? you might need a thin walled socket or get a socket that has a plastic protective sleeve on them to save your wheels.

It's hard to explain exactly. I'll try and snap a shot when I pick up the wheels later this week (probably Thursday) from the tire shop (getting star specs on them).

Turns out it WAS the actual socket hitting the wheel when tightening. Where can i get a thin 17mm? Do they have a different name? Harbor freight?

you can get them pretty much anywhere. i got a set from amazon that came with a plastic sleeve to prevent scratching the sides of the lug hole.
