What are some popular wheels for Minis?

Hey guys.

So I'm new to Minis. I had a set of 18", black, Enkei EDR9's on my baby blue Scion tC and loved the way they look. But alas, they won't fit my Mini so I'm looking for options. A lot of people seem to like Rotas so I'm trying to see what else is out there. I saw a few Königs I like as well. I have a R56 Laser Blue MCS with white bonnet stripes. Part of me, being as obnoxious as I am, says to get some hot pink wheels. Another part of me says get the same Enkeis that I had on my tC but obviously in 17". So I'm looking for suggestions and opinions. I saw a set of Königs that were white with a pink lip and pink König logo that I really liked. Thanks in advance

Oh and the brake calipers eventually will be painted pink too.

Just go on www.tirerack.com and see your options, and depending on what you are looking for, is it looks, performance? winter/summer tires, are you tracking the mini?

Yeah I tried www.tirerack.com but I got too overwhelmed. I actually don't like having what other people have, that's kinda why I asked. I want a track set and I want a set that look good.

I'm on there right now I really don't need Wheels i got a set last week, and I know that not many have Sparco's, which is what I have, couldn't have gone with pricing, very reasonable for the 17's. a bit heavy though but i like them and I track on them with summer tires. I kept my OEM 16's and bought winter tires for them.
where are you thinking of tracking? autoX or race track like summit point?

Mine came stock with 17's. For track wheels, I want 15's haha. I actually autox. You know, my roommate recommended Sparcos and I'm still considering them. He also recommended the Forward Whites with the pink lip on them. Wait, you're in my area. Do you find the winter tires useful? I kinda contemplated getting some but I'm not sure still.

You are welcome to buy my 5zigen Proracer GN+. They are actually powdercoated a laser blue.

They are 17x7.5.

Please do not do something hot pink as I would hate to lose respect for you as a MINI owner.

If you want nice wheels you have to pay to play. Enkei makes 2 good wheels PERIOD! - RFP-01 and the NT-03. The rest are ricey.

Anyhow, popular wheels:

Volk TE-37s
Various BBS's
Team Dynamics
ESM

Basically find other cars with our lug pattern to find wheels since our forum is EXTREMELY limited on options. I wouldnt buy new wheels either if you dont have to.. let someone else take the hit.

Craigslist. FTW.

I bought a brand new car and brand new wheels before. Oh wait, I have neither now. I know Scion xA and xB has the same lug pattern as us which is good. If my stupid tC had a 4 bolt pattern, I wouldn't complain. I actually had Enkei EDR9's and I loved them. I actually think pink wheels would look pretty hot with the laser blue MCS.

My friend who lives in my area just got his RPF1's stolen off his WRX so I think I'm too scared to even try for super nice wheels.

15s wont work with the stock MCS brakes, 17s will.

RPF01s, really arent nice wheels.. just lightweight. Anyhow, locking lug nuts will do that. Its funny wheels like that get stolen, but my friends $8k Klassen Monoblocks have never been bothered on his E92 M3.

But, I would see what you can find on the Honda, MINI, Scion, VW forums as they offer a lot of 4x100 wheels used.

Hot pink is by far too flashy.. there is a girl with a blue sti on pink OZs and it looks awful, I would really stay classy, remember this is a MINI not a Scion.

I would stay black, alloy, gunmetal, or bronze for wheels as those are the classiest colors out there. You can get something that is different yet still looks good, like my dark blue on dark silver. Being you have a blue car you need something that really compliments that color. I like blue on white, but good luck keeping white clean.

Here are my wheels and color. Obviously my color isnt your everyday, but it isnt super standoffish either.

Weird. I don't remember who told me that 15s would work. Maybe they thought just regular Cooper, not S? Who knows. I guess it really just depends on the area people live though. Or maybe if the thief doesn't even know what they're stealing and assume just because they're gold (which were my friend's) that they're super nice and expensive, I couldn't tell you.

I guess I'll be cruising VWVortex for a bit. Do you know offhand which VWs have the same lug pattern? If not, there's always google!

I guess I just want something flashy because I didn't have anything flashy on the Scion haha. I considered white for literally 30 seconds. Then I thought about how much brake dust my stock wheels have collected in literally a week's time. This isn't making my decision any easier

VW - MK1/2 are 4x100. I believe mk3-4 are 5x100 and mk5-6 are 5x112.
(I am a huge VW/Audi kid )

15s work on a regular cooper. An S requires 17s i believe, I think certain 16s will fit depending on offset.

Yeah white is hard to keep clean, but i have unlimited car washes at a place next to my work so i go daily to keep my blue wheels looking blue. Being I have stoptech pads I dust quite a bit on them.

Flashy is great for young teenie boopers out to prove something. You will find much more happiness and a lot more compliments if you go with a classy wheel color and wheel choice.

How much are you looking to spend on wheels?

Yay a fellow semi-dubber at heart!! Haha. Side note: dream car for me is a MK1 Cabriolet, triple white, just saying. I almost bought a VW while I was in the market last month.

Yeah, I don't have unlimited car washes haha. I always enjoy detailing my car myself anyway. I find it more rewarding and peaceful to be honest. And same thing with maintenance. I'm a weird girl, what can I say?

Flashy can also be done classy, if done right. I can always go black wheels with some pink calipers and that'd be flashy enough. Honestly, I think I don't want to spend more than like $500. Student loans are about to kick in come December :(.

Well $500 doesnt leave you much room to buy new. $500 isnt too hard to find used, but shipping is going to push you into the $600 range. Then powdercoating is another $250-350 depending on your coater and connections.

I as a guy dont believe hot pink belongs on a car, but hey im a guy. I would say that black would work and look really good. But I think there are some other colors that would pop really well with you car.

I'd sell my tires and wheels for $600+shipping. Plus I can get cheap deals on Powdercoating. But thats just an option as I dont want to think I am trying to push you to them cause I really like them as well but I like change.

Maintenance i will do myself, washing my car I leave it to them for the most part and I wax it every month myself. too hard to keep wheels clean if i dont have them do it, way too much. And for $45/month to have a wash inside and out everyday im game haha.

Yes I had a MK5 GTi, I have still yet to see someone make more power stock turbo than I was able to :P

My mk5:

Well, being a student is kinda hard. I'm slowly finding that parts are really not that cheap for Minis. Labor, I'm not worried about. I'm close with the performance shop so I can get stuff for free. See, I want a cheaper wheel just because I know powdercoating isn't cheap either.

But see, that's the difference between you and I. You're a guy, I'm a girl. Girls like pink. Well, boys in the Japanese tuner world like pink too. Remember, I hang out with a bunch of Subaru guys (yes, they tried to get me to buy a Subaru) and I also hang out with a lot of Dubbers and my Dubbers are probably just as outlandish as the Subaru people. I'm all about making a statement to be honest. Here's the thing, I'm a 5'11, skinny broad with tattoos. Pink wheels on a blue Mini, that doesn't seem as obnoxious if you know my personality. Like I said, if done right and on the right wheel, I think it can look totally smoking hot. BTW, guy on Scion Life said he has white powder coated Enkei RF1's (I think) and hell sell them from Cali to DC for $375 with shipping. Pretty tempting to be honest. If you lower the price, I'll consider your wheels. All the dubbers I know are totally into the ugly (imo) deep dish wheels that look a little too... hood... for my liking.

What a gorgeous GTI! I almost bought a MK4 Jetta before I got my tC but I don't remember why I didn't get it.

If you don't want what every one else has then I would suggest some Volk TE37s but I hope that you got $$$ cuase they ain't cheap. Maybe some Work wheels or you know what just look at the expensive and rare wheel thread.

Mesh rims look great on MINIs. Work VS XX, BBS LM, OEM BBS R90, HRE 590rs, Rotiform BLQ are some excellent options out there!

agreed, mesh looks good on any euro.

all the above are good options but way outside her price range.

Unless I find them used. Definitely good ideas. I've always been a sucker for BBS and Volk.

I guess I should remind you guys that I'm about to graduate with my undergrad degree in December and I work a lame part time job so getting rare, expensive wheels isn't a smart idea.

there are lower priced wheels available, as long as the expectation is in line w the price..mine are not the most expensive, lightest, or have name brand, but i liked them and they are different than most minis..i got them new, without tires, at my door for well within your pricerange..just had to locate and buy new lugbolts
