Repeated dismounting/mounting runflats

Someone told me its really bad to dismount/remount runflats as I was planning to do with my mini for the winter. Is this true? I know there is always a small risk with even a regular tire but I have done that with regular non run flats swapping summer and winter tires for years with no problems yet.

What about the TPMS?Anyone had any problems with damage with repeated changes on the rim?

When ever you dismount and remount there is always the chance of bending the wheel. There are small bends that happen from time to from multiple mounting and remounting. Just get yourself a cheapy set of the smallest wheels that will fit on your MINI and put your winter tires on those. It would be cheaper in the long run.

+1. Cheaper, easier, and it really won't take any more storage space. For whatever reason, I'm finding that used wheels for these cars don't go for very much on the used market. I bought a NICE set of crownspokes (not for snow tires) for $260 when I first got my car, and now I realize I could have gotten them for less had I waited. When I worked my high school job at Firestone back in the '80s, they would mount snow tires for free as a goodwill gesture. I doubt anyone is doing that these days. At standard prices where I live, if your snows last just two seasons, it's break-even if you buy the wheels right. Plus, if your car runs larger wheels, having a smaller second set affords the option for a narrower tire with a taller sidewall. Better snow traction, and the ability to better resist those potholes that spring up like wildfire during winter.

I'm usually a big fan of separate set of winter wheels but I've always gone OEM or steelies and I can't find any second hand mini wheels locally . Lots of 17in but no 16in.

This is my wifes car, and will not be her main drive either, especially in the winter. Deciding between putting Nokian WRGs on all year (have had great experience with those on our minivans and outbacks) or getting a package from tirerack with winter wheels.

The TPMS thing is a pain too. At least it seems you can reset the mini one yourself. On our subarus even my mechanic and the subaru tuning shop next to him don't have the black box you need. At least the dealer doesn't charge me.
