Observation of RFs & non-RFs

So by no choice I am using a RF as a spare right now while I get one of my wheels fixed. I currently am running 3 other non-RFs. Now this is not a thread about if it is safe. My problem is temporary and I am not driving crazy or fast. I am driving like a 90 y/o in a Caddy.

I drive an 07 MINI S and it has the older tire pressure monitor and as I was drving to go drop my other wheel off to be the pressure warning went off. I checked and rechecked and recked the pressure of all 4 tires and all of them are at the same pressure (33 psi). All the readings were within the range of the MINI but yet it still came on. Now as far as I can tell is that either it some knows the difference between the tires or it does not like the different wheels. Once I get my wheel fixed and put back on I will see if I can reset the warning and wait to see if it comes back on.

If it does reset it might be another indication of why you can not run RFs and non-RFs at the same time.

Yes, you must reset the tire pressure monitor. The older monitor uses change in wheel rotation speed (i.e. tire circumference) to detect loss of pressure. Tires vary in circumference and the monitor should be reset whenever wheels/tires are changed or rotated, or even if you adjust tire pressures. RF's in particular have stiff sidewalls that compress less and if you change only one wheel, it will measure differently compared to what was there before.
