How careful do you have to be with 16 lbs wheels?

Hi,

Just got my Clubman Last week. Shopping for Wheels. How careful do I (my wife) have to drive in the SF Bay Area with 16lbs Wheels. (OZ, TD, Works etc). Not for track use. Just for Interstate 280, 101, 001. commute.

Thank you.

What size wheels? I've been using 15" SSR Competition forged wheels (9 lbs) for almost 6 years without an issue.

Generally I would say that you don't need to be too concerned about driving in the Bay Area. People complain about the condition of the roads here but it is nothing like cities in the East and Midwest, where winters and temperature extremes combined with poor road maintenance create truly destructive potholes.

I have 15lbs OZs they are 17x7 and I am not to worried. Have a good sidewall and stay out of the holes in the road and you should be fine. Its not wieght that makes them weaker but size. Sticking between 15 to 18 is fine. Though on 18s you start running into the risk of bending them.
