Stupid brake question
Stupid brake question
Had my brakes done recently (not at dealership). Very shortly afterward, started hearing a horrible scraping sound from the left front...pulled the wheel and found that the shroud on the inside was rubbing the disc. Easy to fix (just tugged it back a little bit), but I also noticed that the pads were tilted (relative to the disc), with about a 1mm gap towards the hub, but contacting the disc at the outer edge of the pad. Checked the rears....they are contacting the discs as well, over the entire pad surface (not tilted like the fronts). Not enough to stop me from turning the wheel by hand, but still, I can't even slide a piece of paper between the pads and the discs.
That's not normal, is it? And if it's not, any ideas as to what was done wrong, and/or suggestions for a DIY fix that don't require a helper? Or should I just go to a different shop and have them correct it?
