205/50R17 on S Lites

So back to the drawing board for new snow shoes. Found another great deal on a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks only used for one season.

should these work out ok with my stock S Lites? 205/50R17

Thanks!

Thats not really the direction you want to go for snow tires. Try to find a set of 15" wheels, then put on 185/65-15.

the direction i'm going in is low budget. My stock wheels are sitting in my shed not being used. I'd rather use them and pick up a set of cheap tires for winter use. i'm trying to avoid buying a package that will cost more than i want to spend.

The 205/50/17 is going to be 8/10ths of an inch taller overall. This will raise your car by half an inch (good), but will also fill the wheelwell by the same amount (not necessarily so good). Plenty of people are running 215/45/17's, which are 3/10" taller, not to mention 10mm wider on cars lowered an inch or so Therefore it's my suspicion that they should be fine. Yes, a narrower tire would be preferred, but I also read of people running stock size snows that swear by them. For the right price, I'd go for it on a non-lowered car.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my diameter information in the above post comes from the tire size calculator on miata.net.

thanks for the response. I'm not lowered at all and have some wheel spacers on as well. not sure if i'll keep them on for winter use.

The price is right plus the guy isn't locked in at his list price which is even better!
