Just ordered some of these in a 215. Cannot wait til Monday! I would get them done today, but I am doing a run this weekend and would hate to do it before breaking them in first.

I will give my thoughts on these after I get them on and broken in a bit.

Did they have them? Most sizes have been on backorder for a while now....

I've been trying to get some 235/50's for my wifes Audi, they say up to another 6 months!

TireRack has them in both a 205 and 215, but in limited quantities. It only shows 2 in stock for the 325/50/17.

I called around to my local places and they all had at least one set in stock.

Please post pics of your MINI running those. I got to see this!!

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but when I read that I saw a vision of them in my mind of how that would have to look and it was awesome!!

Haha...

Those would not even fit under my fenders with the 1.2 inch drop I have. They would look great on the Audi which the person posting above me was talking about. I have seen 225/40/18s on a MINI and it is insane!

So...

I have had these on since Monday afternoon. I am still breaking them in, so I have not really pushed them super hard yet.

I like them, but the one complaint I have is how squishy they make the ride feel. It is like I am riding on jello sometimes. I am going to bump up the tire pressures a bit to see how that helps. I will get a better idea of how they are once I get to use them on a good run.

Anyways, here are some pics, enjoy!

they improve and you get used to it.

I put that on when I got the panel filter replacement. Now, I have the DDMWorks Street CAI with the K&N cone filter. It is AWESOME. There is no real HP gain, but the noise is all I wanted. Haha.

Wanted to bring this post back to life...

From what I've read abroad, the dws is second to the Michelin Pilot Exalto a/s, which haven't been mentioned. Curious why not?

The only negative thing I've read about the exalto is that there's no rim protector, which actually does bother me, but a soft sidewall bothers me equally and the Michelin has a stiffer sidewall.

Curious on dws compared to the exalto... And I know the price difference.

Continental Extreme DWS

I have these tires on my S now. I haven't put a lot of miles on' but I am very happy with them. Extremely quiet tires and the ride is much better than the run flats on all surfaces. I added a couple of pounds of pressure and they as stiff in corners as the run flats. I am running 39 lbs.
I recommend them and the price is great.

I replaced the OEM RFs with Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season in 205/45ZR17 and have been extremely happy with them for the two sets and three seasons I've had them. They are almost as stiff as the RF, taking the back mountain roads with no sidewall rolling. I have driven through 2-3 inches of snow and slush, and they have pulled up the icy hill into our subdivision when SUVs had trouble.

The DWS are now available (and in-stock at TR) in the 205, and the F1s are only available in 215. Does anyone have any experience with both the DWS and F1s?

Thus far with just ~1000 miles on them my 17 inch DWS at 39psi are feeling great.

Just spent the last weekend doing two round trips from KC to Lake of the Ozarks and to St Louis; in both cases they cruised nice and quiet on the freeway, as well as providing acceptable stickiness in the country roads around the lake. I'm really satisfied, I have to say. Plus, I sized up a little (215-45-17) and the way they fill out the wheelarches is NICE.

Be forewarned: if you get these tires the first three hundred miles or so will be ALARMINGLY SQUIRMY. Like buyer's regret what-have-I-done level squirmy.

That's why so many forum people return them after one day. Fortunately I waited; by about 800 miles the mold release compound should be gone and mine feel pretty doggone good. Again, mine are 17 inches; the 16 inch crowd seems to be more consistently dissatisfied with the Contis' performance.

Should you go into the DWS purchase, just keep the mindset that it will take some time for the tires to firm up and de-squirm, as well as you may be trading from summer tires to all weathers and may be sacrificing some of that sportiness. However, you will no longer spray your coffee over the dashboard when you run over a nickel, and your kidneys will no longer rattle around your spine like dice in a Yahtzee cup.

I noticed the same thing with my new Hankook Evos. The first few days I was thinking WTF? and started to feel some serious buyers's remorse. However, after about a week and 800 miles, the tires seemed to firm up a bit. Additionally, I bumped up my inflation pressure to 39 from 37 and noticed an improvement immediately.

The tires still do not turn in with the immediacy of the Conti runflats, but ti is really not bad at all and certainly a fair tradeoff for the vastly improved ride quality. And these Hankooks are MONSTERS in the rain, the grip is extraordinary.

Just wanted to say that I concur with those that say a little more psi is key to making these tires handle well. I started at 36 psi and like most others here, ended up at 39 psi and instant improvement in turn in.

i drove these in 6"+ of snow the other day and man are they really good for a A/S tire. They wont ever be a snow tire but I cant say ive had a UHP A/S tire thats dealt better in snow.
Can you post a pic or two of those 215's? I'm in the market for tires as my Conti rf's are almost dead. Dealer didnt rotate at first service, so the fronts spin with every 1st n 2nd gear turn

I have the DWs in the 215 45 17, about 2 K on them now and they are awesome. Just did 2 runs in Manhatten with some Mini folk, and the tires were great. I have had at least 9 sets of tires on my Mini, and for everyday driving these are the best. However I would not Track or Autocross on them, they are a bit soft for that.

I can't speak for the DWS, but I have the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S in 205/55/16 on my Cooper and I'm very happy with them so far (on 300 miles).

I just picked up a set of DWS in 205/55/16. Squirmy as squirmy can be! I got so far as to ready Continental's trial warranty which covers a full replacement due to dissatisfaction in ride quality for up to 60 days with this tire. Unfortunately, it only covers replacement of Continental branded tires. I have the psi at 42 all around and it still is somewhat squishy! All of my 200+ miles on this tire have been on the highway, so I will give them some more time. Perhaps I will wait until winter is over and pick up a nice set of 17's with a better summer tire and keep these as my all-weathers. Additionally, I do not like the look of the 205 on my wheels. It looks to beefy on such a sporty car.

I love these tires - I put them on my daughters 2009 Clubman S this past August when we needed to replace the Run Flats - which only lasted 20K miles and were noisy as heck. We are running the 205/45/17's and I agree they are slightly less responsive - something my daughter will never notice - but the ride improvement and noise reduction is something she (everyone) appreciates.

I also have the DWS mounted on 2 BMW X3's and my oldest daughters Audi A4 Avant and in both of these other cars they have been great.

This has become my standard replacement tire as long as I can find them in the needed size.

We've got some DWSs on Tristan (the JustaCooper), they're OK. The ride is very good and they're very quiet, but the handling is a bit iffy, probably what I should expect from an all season. Previously we had UHP summer tires (Yokohama S.Drives). Definitely can't pull as many Gs with the DWS (as confirmed by my iPhone) and sometimes it feels a little squirly under hard braking. Felt very secure driving through storms in the Pacific north west.

They have a 50,000 mile treadlife warranty, but they're wearing so they'll be worn out in about 25,000 miles. They're wearing about about 4500miles/mm with 6-7mm of treadlife on them.

What do you think about the ContiProContact SSR,
vs Dunlop SP sport 01 run on flat,
vs Conti extreme contact DW.
Two in 195/55/16 (DW BEING THE ONLY 205)
If I trade in the mushy DWS's under Continental's " trial warranty" I believe I can only get a set of continentals as a trade. I will see, but what tires would I be most pleased with if first and foremost I want crisp TURN-IN, then dry traction, then weather capability, then ride quality, then road noise, then longevity?

This is a slight thread hijack, but relevant enough to inform anyone interested enough in any of these tires and as dissattisfied as I am with the DWS's.

I just this whole read thread and felt that I was writing some of the comments myself. I also ditched the OEM Rf's with 215-45-17 DWS and were suffering from buyers remorse with all the squirmyness. But after 1000 miles it has settled down and now I love the ride. I run 38 psi. It is all I expected them to be.

I replaced my Conti runflats with Hankook Evo 12s and I am quite stisfied with them. The turn-in response is not as quick as the runflats, but the Hankook are *much* better overall for every day use. They have *enormous* grip, especially in the rain. And the ride is much much smoother and quieter than the runflats.

Being in So. Fla., I did not even consider the Conti DWS's, I don't need snow driving capability. However, I have heard very good things about the Conti DWs (notethe lack of the "S" in the name). These tires probably rival the Hankooks but the Hankooks were significantly less expensive. I ended up paying $71 per tire from TireRack when they were running a special promotion...
