I dropped down to 36psi in my non-runflats
I now have Michelin Exalta PE'2 215/45/17 non-runflats in place of the Dunlap 205/45/17's run-flats that came on my JCW.
I went to 36psi instead of 38psi. I think I could really go to 34psi looking at the footprint that the tire puts down.
What pressure is everybody that runs 215/45/17 non-runflats using? I'm sure that 38psi will wear out the center tread way before the edges by looking at the footprint the tires make.

If you are using MINIs recommended pressures they are for runflats. As you know those tires are constructed very differently. That pressure could be a place to start, but as you've discovered you can get by with less pressure in a normal tire. Keep an eye on the wear patterns & drop it some more. I'm running 30 in my Goodyear GSD F1, but they are a different tire & different size. As they say your mileage may vary.
