New Tire help for newbie

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to replace the tires on my 2005 Mini Cooper. I am looking for a tire that is going to last a lot of miles. I drive 15-20K a year so miles is more important than comfort. Basically I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. So if a tire is 200 each I'm not intersted unless it is going to last 100K(wouldn't that be nice). Thank you for your help in advance. There are just too many tires out there to chose from. I know there are ratings online but I would rather here from people on here. I like in the Cincinnati area if that matters.

If tread wear is the only criteria just compare cost and length of tread wear warranty to maximize "bang" for the buck. Comparing tread wear ratings doesn't work well because each manufacturer gets to pick any tire they want to represent "100."

I'm running that tire size in a Bridgestone Potenza G 019 Grid...they are a High Performance All-Season so if that is not what you are looking for, then oh well, I just thought I'd lend my .02!!

I also have the Bridgestone G019 on 15" rims and am very happy so far. They are quiet, comfortable ride and with only 5K miles on them can barely tell they have been on the road. I think I paid $75 ea at Firestone.

There are alot more choices if you decide to go to the 205 50 16, you may want to drop Alex @tirerack a note and ask what he thinks, he will find the perfect tire for your driving style and in your price range
