Alex,
I called Continental, and spoke to Alisha, (I think), and she told me that there was a 30 day satisfaction period during which they could be exchanged, and that it couldn't be extended.

She also told me there was a road hazard warranty, and she said that the tires could be exchanged under that warranty. She said that I would have to do this through the place where I bought the tires.

A month ago, as soon as I first got the tires and didn't like them, I asked the tire installer shop if there was such a period during which I could exchange them, he told me no!

The day I got the tires I also asked the tire shop if there was a road hazard warranty and he told me No to this also!

Alisha said I could trade them in for other Conti or General tires. I am supposed to call the tire place back at 4:30 after they "talk to the boss" about this.

This may sound weird and a few will argue but put a 205/50/R17 tire on. I just put a set of Dunlop SP Sport Signatures on my car and absolutely love them!!! The ride is so much better! Thank you tirerack.com.

Despite what people told me these tires do not rub, look great and ride incredible even on the worst Oklahoma roads. I will find out how well they handle the Detroit roads this summer. I have hit some bumps that I used to cringe every time over and now it is almost as though they are not there. As long as you are at stock ride height you should have no problems.

I do a lot of highway driving (250 miles a week +) and am so glad I switched to the bigger tire. I also increased my mileage by 2mpg average per tank!

just my .02 cents

Alex and All,

Well I just switched from the 17's S-Lites to R84 X-Liet 16" rims with Dunlop SP5000 tires and I'm very happy so far. The ride is now better and more controlled and not as harsh. The Dunlop SP5000 tires seem to perform very well in the rain, and although I didn't do any hard cornering with them yet, they seem okay on dry too. They are slightly louder tires than the Continental ProContacts that I had been running on with the 17s.

Now that I feel how much better the ride is with 16" rims I don't know why anyone would want any rim size larger.

Next up is to get dedicated Summer tires on the 16s and eventually Winter tires on the 17". NON-RUN FLAT for both of those sets!

So a group buy on the Conti Comfort Kit would be nice...

I figured as such, but it didn't hurt to ask, right?

I just replaced my Run Flat to Non from Costco. They had Bridgestone 195/55/16 for $450 Installed after $70 coupon.

Did I do something wrong?

I wouldn't say you did anything wrong, because a lot of people switch from the run flats to non so that they can get a more comfortable ride and potentially better handling, but you might want to have AAA or a can of fix a flat if you don't have a spare.

Also, now that you're riding on regular tires and not run flats, I'd like to know how the feel of the ride changed for you.

I love tirerack.com. You guys saved me a bunch of money on tires I bought at the end of December for my Civic. Now that I'm getting a 2010 MCS, what non run flats would you suggest for 16 inch wheels? Thanks!
Oh and if anyone is interested in a set of pretty much brand new run flats, let me know.

Run Flats-Fix or Buy New Tires

I have a 2006 Mini S with 17" Perilli run flats (7000 miles). got a nail in one. Went Wal-Mart (Orlando), they wouldn't fix it (liability), they suggested Gator Tire, they wouldn't fix it (liability)-but they did give me the story on run flats-poor ride, poor handling, poor wear, high price. Went to Costco, they wouldn't fix it (liability)-plus, if I wanted to replace the tire they will only sell me two at a time-the nail in the tire is now $200-$400. Went to an independent shop, they wouldn't fix it (liability). From a comment on this website went to Discount Tire-they fixed it with no hassel (in fact this particular location fixed it for free (no previous association). It's only been a day since the fix so can't say if it is working. Commets along the way-if you change to regular tires what do you do in case of a flat (no spare no jack etc)-don't use goo, it messes up the tire pressure sensors, other suggestions, get AAA, buy a "donut spare" and jack, get a bicycle pump, get a mini compressor the size of a six pack. You gotta love those German engineers-all that effort for a great handling car then design it for "run flats" that negate those very characteristics.

I had less than 10 miles on my new 2011 MCS and switched to Toyo Proxis 4's. Almost literally drove to the tire shop after the purchase...

My new 2011 JCW got new 215/45/17 Hankook Ventus V12's on it the day after I took it home. Picked those up from Tirerack using Alex's name. The tires are new to me but came in a close second in last year's Car and Driver performance tire roundup to the Dunlop Direzza's. The Hankooks were close enough in performance and significantly less so I'm trying them out. I hate runflats.
