NEW WHEELS MAKING MY BACK TIRES RUB
NEW WHEELS MAKING MY BACK TIRES RUB
I just installed these 17" wheels on my car, and now the back tire rubs a little if I hit a hole. I have 215/45/17 tires and the offset on the rim is 40. I also have H&R Springs installed. Does anyone have any suggestions on preventing the tires from rubbing, besides new tires or stock suspension?
Trim the inside edge of the black arches, fender liner & rear bumper where it makes contact.
Look for wear marks to determine where the rubbing's happening & remove the least possible amount of material. Drive for another week & repeat if necessary.
The only other option is add a lot of negative camber which will cause irregular tire wear & less than ideail traction in the rear.

That's all you can really do for now.
Are the 17x7 or 17x7.5?
Once the 215/45-17s go bald, try 215/40-17

It won't harm anything though if it's just the plastic.
