Are they bad for performance?? (acceleration/straight line performance)
im thinking of exchanging my lightweights (7kg) for this wheel but i discovered it weighs around 12kg?

do they slow down your mini? any experiences?

Bad? No.

Depends what you want. Depends how you drive.

Under normal street driving, observing the speed limits, any wheel for the MINI with work fine.

Light wheels and tires help because less weight allows you to use less energy to get the car moving from a stop or stopping from any speed.

The car may feel more responsive if you get on the throttle or brakes hard but for easy gentle use of the brakes and throttle you will be fine with any wheel from 15" to 17".

Very light wheels can be damaged from potholes more easily, heavy wheels tend to do ok but if you are going fast you can damage them or your tires and suspension. Just be careful.

The other factor that is important is which tire you choose. If you are using the same tire then fine but if you need new tires then choose carefully. Some are stronger on performance but wear fast, others offer more comfort, less noise, and may wear longer.
