Hey, everyone.

Looks like i have a brake booster leak (i hear a hissing sound when depressing the brake pedal).

Anyone had this fixed recently and able to let me know about how much it costs?

Also, what are your thoughts on having this repaired at a general mechanic's shop that does brake work and such? I have a mechanic that specializes in mini's, but would like to see if general mechanic would be more cost competitive.

I have a small leak somewhere in my brake booster as well (mini calls the booser the brake servo unit). At my local dealer after club discounts the brake booster is $280 I think. However I think the first logical place to check is the non return valve (check valve). My plan is to remove the valve and place a vacuum on the booster to see if it holds. If so the problem is the check valve and its an easy fix for about $24 after discount at my local dealer.

As far as fixing at some other shop. I would think its a very easy repair for any competent mechanic.
