Any experience with 225/45/17's on S Lites MCS 2006?

Time for new tires for the 2006 MCS with 17" S Lites. Looking at the Nitto Invo or the Nitto NeoGen. The Invo only comes in a 225/45/17 and the NeoGen comes in a 215/40/17. I would like to go with the Invo's if they fit. The Car is not lowered and probably will never be. The only people who ever sit in the back are my 7 year old and my 4 year old.

Looking at the car, there seems to be plenty of room for the 225/45/17. They are only around .75" wider. and slightly taller.

Will these things fit?

Ready to buy.

Any other suggestions for new tires?

I've already used the search function and checked out Tirerack.com and Discount Tire and read most of the reviews.

So what do you guys and girls think?

I run 225/45/17 Nokian WR's on S-lites with no rubbing. I have been running for about a year and half and as such have had time to haul all sort of junk around in my MINI. During my tire rotation I have looked for rubbing and only saw a small mark on my front fender liner, it is so minor though that it looks like the tire has only hit that spot once or twice, probably from pot holes.

The question is though how do the actual sizes of the tires compare. Though a manufacturer may list the tread width as 225 it can actually be wider or narrower than that by a small margin. If I knew the width of the WR's I could help more, unfortunately I dont outside of the specs, so all I can tell you is that this particular tire does fit.

Thanks,

I've had this same thought. On my Jeeps in the past. Off road tires could vary quite a bit just by brand. Size was the same on the label, but actual tire size varied quite a bit from brand to brand and model to model.

I know Falken rt615 don't fit in that size (225/45-17) it it rubbed near shock. But 5mm spacers would of solved it. 225/40-17 does fit but not many tires in that size only Nitto NT555 and Hoosiers and NT555s don't have good reviews. but the rt-615s have a broader shoulder width than all-season winter tires.
Check and see if they put them on to see fit. Today I tried F1 GS-D3s in 225/35-18s, drivers side cleared but passenger side rubbed just slightly, so drove to Speedworks Motorsport in Duarte and picked up set 4 H&R 5mm spacers.
