What offset wheel with 205/50/16 tires?
I am planning to get some all-season wheel/tire set for my cooper-S for
the winter time.
Not too many choices for 195/55/16, so want to go 205/50/16.
I will also be carring a 'fix-a-flat' can in the trunk, so will not need to
be run-flat tires.
I have a few wheels in mind, mostly cheapo SportEditions.
What is the maximum offset i can use with 205/50/16? I am assumiing
that the SportEditions are 45mm offset.
thanks,
ken

There are many approaches to aftermarket wheels.
One is to choose based on appearance- you like it or not. Then check to see if it will fit.
For the MCS usually 16x 6 to 7" width or 17x 6.5 to 7.5" width, 4x100 are the safest.
You are choosing by tire size- not the most common way unless you have a particular tire in mind from the start- if so Alex can help choose. Discuss it with him.
This is a good thread on choosing the right wheel with correct offset in mind-
look at the diagram provided by alex. Look at the minimum offsets for each of the lower spring sets to get an idea of how far from stock 48mm MCS offset you can go.-without getting rubbing issues.

Here's a cool "calculator" to help visualize offset changes...
