Urgent - Snow Chain Question

Hey guys,

We're in need of some quick advice and favor. I'm posting from the road right now and we're currently 120 miles east of Denver with about 2 hours to make a decision.

Right now, the winter advisory is suggesting 6" of packed snow on the highways and everyone else in our group either has snow chains or intends to purchase them very soon. (Keep in mind we're heading out towards Breckenridge.)

We're in a '08 R56 Cooper S with the all-season Continental OEMs. Do you guys have any advice/warnings in regards to snow chains or products like it? We've got 2 hours to make a decision, if we're going to find something, we're going to find it in Denver.

Thanks in advance.

Umm...chains do have the potential to damage your rims, but normally when sized correctly its not a problem. Not having chains has the potential to destroy the entire car. I'd say grab some chains, even if you don't end up needing to use them, you'll have them for when you do need them.

i'd seriously think about full on snow tyres.

at least, they're not speed limited (typically 25 mph or lower)
like chains.
