Getting ready to get new tires and rims and I am wanting to know if I should go with the 215 or 225?? The tire guy I am dealing with thinks 225 its the way to go. Going with the MOMO X-1. I know they are not light but I don't care about that. But they are lighter then the stock wheels I have now. Your thoughts and ideas. Thanks

Nobull60,

You may want to speak with Alex at Tire Rack on this one. I believe that wheel width has an important role in determining how wide the tire can be. I'm not sure how wide a tire can be installed on a 7" wide wheel. I know I had a set of 8" wide wheels and I needed to use the 215 versus the factory 205 so they weren't stretched across the wheel. You may have to have a minimun width wheel in order to use a 225. The other issue will be whether or not the car is lowered. My 8" wide wheels, with a more agressive offset, had 215/40/17 and I still had rubbing issues with H-Sport springs. The new wheels are 7.5" wide and I'm using the same tire with no rubbing issues at all.

get your dremel ready - every 225 in 17 inch I have seen takes trimming.

215 is the less likely to rub option.

I hate trouble. I'd go for 215 anyday. 225 isn't going to give you that much more in terms of function or looks in my opinion. People will look at those rims! Fool them- go with the 215.
