Question about Offset

Hello everyone. I am new in this forum.

I have one question about wheels.

Will a 17x8 with +39 offset fit on a R56?

The profile the tires will be 205/45.

17x8 et39 is very agressive, with fenderlip mods it could work, but it would "poke"

I'm not sure it would poke......17x8 et35 is just barely poking. It will definitely be close though...maybe a tiny bit of poke if any at all The lip of the wheel will definitely be right at the edge of the fender which would require some fender modding.

It's good that you're planning to run 205/45 for a little stretch.....that will help with any arch clearance issues. You will probably have to do some simple trimming around the arches.

Normally 205/45-17 would be used on rims 6.5 to 7.5" wide. Using them on a 17x8" rim requires a bit of effort and as mentioned will stretch the tire on a wider rim giving a little more rounded shoulder and a bit more clearance. This along with more rear negative camber could give you the space you need to make it fit without rubbing or with only a little inner wheel arch plastic trimming with a dremmel tool.

I think if you don't get any tire taller than 24.3" and don't lower your R56 you will be fine.

Other possible tires that are smaller in tire diameter but still fit the 17x8 rim would be-
205/40-17 fits rims 7-8" wide 84 load rating is Ok. 23.5" tire diam.
215/40-17 fits rims 7-8.5" wide 23.8" tire diam.

Tires that are smaller in tire diameter would increase wheel gap so lowering suspension would be a better match.

Also wider tire for 8" rim-
235/40-17 fits rims 8-9.5" wide 24.4" tire diam. Less clearance due to both wider tire and wide rim. Matched with ride height adjustable coilovers this might work.
