While looking around at other cars in search of new rims, I notice that about 15% autos with aftermarket rims seem to be sporting 3 custom wheels, with the fourth one replaced by a black spare !

Is this the local trend, or are these aftermarket wheels really susceptible to potholes and curbs?

I'm kinda wanting Konig Feathers when they become available again, but I'm starting to wonder......

Depends on the quality of the rims you get.....cheaper "tuner" rims, often found on the hondas that you see cruising around with that steelie 4th wheel, are more susceptible to bends and damage. My guess is that it plays a large part in the trend you're noticing.

I've run multiple sets of aftermarket wheels in my time and have never had a problem with bends....I do stick to quality companies like BBS for the added strength/safety though

Running the custom wheels and summer tires in our winters is pretty common . . . those damaged wheels are always on the front. . . ice . . .slide . . .hello curb.

Yeah, I never thought of that.
I guess with cheaper wheels one can always buy an extra, or as Rally suggests, BBS (I wish...)

You don't need to go as $$$ as BBS....even Konig's are strong for the price you pay (I had konigs before my BBS sets and they stayed strong the whole way through). There are just some very questionable wheels out there and they don't hold up very well to potholes etc.

I've seen more than a few sets of Momo Corse for sale that are bent. Makes one wonder....Momo is generally good stuff too.
