Recommend asbestos pads for front brakes?
I have a set of XP10 pads that I got at a fire sale price. That is what I planned on using as my track pads. Do you think those are aggressive enough to clean the Hawk smush off the rotors?
Since Carbotech is the only pads on the market without lead it's going to be harder for the Bobcat, JUST the Bobcat, to eat away the residue left by other pads. IF you want to run the AX6 or any of our track pads you can use your current rotors.
Based on post #21, I"d say you would be better off running the XP8's in the rear full time and XP8's on the fronts for track, and you may also like them on the street, if not run the AX6 for the street.
Hope that helps, D

if you use carbotech pads you can run any pads that they make with out cleaning/turning your rotor
. if you are going from another pad to carbotech you do need to turn your rotors it is a skin cut like .01 of an inch a side (human hair is .003) so that is not a lot of materal off your rotor. now if some one is going to a race pad i have heard that they will clean off the rotors but it might take a session to do so. i hope this helps

Yes the XP10 should do the job.

I fixed it! That's what happens when I try and listen to her and post at the sametime.

my .02
Cermaics tend to be rather gentile to the rotor is our testing. I would stay away from them for track work because of their insulation properies force all the heat back into the rotors -

Jeez guys, he just wants some low-dust front brakes. A set of EBC Green will work fine, and are widely available. As brakes, they are no better than stock, but no worse.
BTW, when I fitted EBC Red pads on my rear brakes, they had a coating of sand embedded on the surface, which took a dozen hard stops to wear off. There is certainly not going to be much need to turn the rotors if the new pad is going to sand them off anyway.

You are right Rick. I think he got his info early on in this thread. My apologies for going off topic, but I got a lot of great info here. Thanks everyone.
