TPMS

I have 08 mini with 15" and would like to get 16 or 17 " . Can I use 1st generation minis wheels and install my TPMS's on them or rims have to be made for TPMS's. Thank you.

Yes, stock wheels either 16 or 17" should work fine and you can transfer the TPMS.

If you mark each TPMS (right front, right rear, left front and left rear) remove each and put them on new rims and mount the rims in exactly the same position then you do not need to reset TPMS on your MINI.

Watch out the TPMS can easily be damaged and they are expensive.

If you rotate wheels with TPMS you will need to reset TPMS or your dash light will be on. If you have NAV screen you can reset it yourself. Otherwise the dealer will charge you to reset it.

So when I rotate my tires, I can't reset the system through the menu system (I don't have NAV)? The dealer needs to do it? Ugh...

I though I read in the owner's manual somewhere that we can reset the TPMS ourselves. I will have to double check.

You can reset the TMPS on the 08 without Nav -- it's described in the book. I've done it twice now hunting down a slow leak!

The red tire warning indicator goes off right away when you do the reset. The smaller yellow indicator in the speedo goes off after half a mile or so of driving.
